Mission Statement
‘Treat others as you yourself would like to be treated’
This Christian philosophy is the cornerstone of all learning and daily activities in Ballycroneen N.S. as every individual, regardless of difference is welcomed and treated with a mutual respect. Ballycroneen N.S. is a co-educational primary school which aspires to promote and develop a warm, caring and happy environment for all to work, play and support each other. We recognise that every child is first and foremost, a child. Our school aims to provide a holistic and inclusive educational experience for all children regardless of difference while upholding a palpable Catholic ethos. The staff endeavours to create a positive primary educational experience so that pupils’ primary school education will serve as a solid foundation for the rest of their lives. We aim to develop children’s competence and confidence across a broad spectrum of needs so that each individual can develop and blossom intellectually, personally, morally, socially, physically, spiritually and culturally. Ballycroneen N.S. fosters a positive rapport with parents, the community and wider social circles to entrench a deep-seated community spirit in our school for all with whom we come into contact. Déanfaimid iarracht Gaeilge a labhairt chomh minic agus is féidir.
Our School
Ballycroneen National School was founded in 1869. We are a co-educational school with a staff of three teachers, one shared Special Education Teacher and one Special Needs Assistant.
Our school building consists of three spacious classrooms, a learning support room with sensory space, a multi-functional hall, a fully stocked library and a staff room.
Outside we have a large recreational area with basketball posts and a decorated yard with games suitable for the children from Junior Infants through Sixth Class. We also have a large grass area which is used by all school pupils for hurling, football and other outdoor activities. In addition to this, we have a sensory garden, vegetable garden and a sand play area. We are currently developing an outdoor classroom area.
The school has invested heavily in Information Technology in recent years to provide excellent learning opportunities for the children. This includes three state of the art interactive whiteboards, iPads, Chromebooks and laptops.
Awards/Initiatives
Here at Ballycroneen we like to take part in many activities to support and expand our learning in school. These initiatives vary from year to year and range from Environmental Awareness topics, sports programmes, STEAM education, mental health and well being initiatives to the use of Information and Communications Technology in school and home.
